Berry Bests Marshallltown World Nationals Opener

Tom Berry Jr. bested the competition in the opening round of the 16th annual World Nationals at Marshalltown (Iowa) Speedway on Friday night.

With 32 competitors on hand, Tom earned the 12th-starting spot for the 30-lap feature. Just past the race's midway point, he found himself in the Top 5 and with three laps remaining he raced into the top spot and never looked back en route to his 21st win of the 2022 season.

He was followed across the finish line by Joel Rust, Richie Gustin, Dylan Thornton, and Tim Ward.

In IMCA Stock Car competition, Tom won his heat race to earn the eighth-starting spot for the feature, but was an early retiree to a 20th-place finish.
