Tom Berry Jr. grabs Stock Car victory in Fall Bash at Cedar County Raceway

As September drew to a close, Tom Berry Jr. participated in four days of racing at Cedar County Raceway (Tipton, Iowa) in both the IMCA Stock Car and Modified divisions. He ended the event in Victory Lane on Saturday evening in the Stock Car program.

Thirty-eight Stock Car competitors were in the pit area at the quarter-mile oval on Saturday, each seeking the $1,500 winner’s share on the final night of the Fall Bash. Berry drove the Team 3W Racing No. 11x car to a third-place result in his heat, then redrew to start on the pole in the 20-lap feature race. He led flag to flag, taking the victory by 0.587 seconds over runner-up Nick Buckarma. Michiah Hidlebaugh finished third, with Kyle Resch and Dustin Vis rounding out the top five.

The win was Berry’s 13th A-Main triumph of 2023.

Berry kicked off the four days at Cedar County Raceway on Wednesday evening as one of 35 Modified drivers on hand for the 30th annual Gary Reinhart Memorial. He finished fourth in his heat aboard his No. 11x Modified, putting him 16th on the grid for the 25-lap, $1,500-to-win main event. He charged forward 11 spots to take a fifth-place finish, crossing under the checkered flag behind Brandon Schmitt, Chris Simpson, Ehan Braaksma and Brad Dierks.

On Thursday, 41 Modifieds were at the track for the first night of the Fall Bash. Berry finished fifth in his heat, then used a B-Main win to start 18th on the grid in the 25-lap, $1,200-to-win feature. He scored a top-10 result for the second consecutive night with a ninth-place finish.

Friday’s program attracted 51 Modified entries with the top prize increased to $1,500. Berry finished seventh in his heat and 10th in his B-Main, ending his night. He then elected to not compete in the remainder of the Modified program at the Fall Bash event.

Berry also took part in the 40-car Stock Car class on Friday, finishing second in his heat. However, he did not start the evening’s 20-lap, $1,200-to-win A-Main before taking the victory on Saturday.
